Scars are common. Nearly everyone has them and most wounds do not result in keloids. However, there can be other unappealing traits of a scar that can make you uncomfortable or uneasy showing it.
As the skin begins to heal after an injury, it is prone to develop deep pigmentation as a result of melanin deposition into the epidermis and dermis. Depending on the severity of the injury, the pigmentation can be transient (as seen in a suntan), or permanent. Deep pigmentation can often cause a scar to look worse and deeply discolored.
The best way to prevent this or reverse pigmentation caused by scarring is to use a skin brightening product like Melarase AM & PM.
