Treatment 1

Good Evening my friends! I hope that everyone is doing well. I had a doctors appointment in LA today and my first treatment for my scar. As you know I was nervous about the pinching. I was not sure if I had pinched correctly or even enough. Boy was I glad when the doctor said that I had done great! The difference already in the pain and itching is just amazing, this guy certainly knows what he is talking about ;-)

As the doctor came out to get me, I over heard the receptionist setting up the next appointment for a girl around my age. It's a plastic surgery office so often people will not be there due to keloid scars, but this girl seemed different by what she was saying and I wondered if she were there for the same reason as I. Well, turns out she was and once I was in the exam room, the doctor went out to talk to her. He asked her to come speak with me if she felt comfortable. She willingly came in and I showed her my scar and she showed me hers. She had a large acne scar on her shoulder and some on her chest and they looked amazing! after only 3 treatments, they were already looking great and the one on her chest was barely noticeable! I finally got the proof that I needed to be SURE that I was where I was supposed to me. Talking to her calmed me and gave me a lot of hope. She was so happy with her results and she wasn't even done yet. She lives in Sacramento and would fly or drive down for treatments. That made my 2 hour drive seem not as bad. LOL. I was really happy to meet her and although she did not seem as open about her keloid as I was, it was nice to know that I wasn't alone.

So, onto the treatment :). The doctor gave me two options, either go home and do more pinching, or do a steroid treatment. I was ready to get things started so I decided it was time to get the treatments going. I knew it would be painful, but why wait any longer? I am waiting for my new life to begin after all!

I removed my shirt and we got things started. Thank goodness I have such a great support system or I am positive I would not have been able to get through it. My mom had my head and my husband had my hand. Not to mention Dr. K was EXTREMELY comforting as well. I have really grown to like him and after only two appointments, feel like he is really behind me like my family is.

He is excited about my blog and was actually the one to suggest taking a video. It was rough, but why not let my friends, family and total strangers see me in pain?

With no further ado, and please only watch if you are not terrified of needles or blood, here we are...

What I am willing to forgo for a better life...
